a long process

I realize it's been a while since the blog has been updated, and I'm sorry about that.

I try to make the posts as realistic as possible and still share how hopeful we are. The reality of this post is that, while no major changes have happened, things are just very difficult.

As we pass the seven month mark, we are thankful that Aron is still alive and that he is awake. It is impossible to know how aware he is of his surroundings and his situation. My parents continue to visit him each day and encourage him, take him outside, and advocate on his behalf.

Advocating for him is exhausting for both my parents - dealing with Aron's healthcare has been difficult - getting answers, calls back, or face time with the appropriate people has been challenging.

This is a daily struggle that hasn't gotten any easier since that terrible day in June. While the shock of everything has worn off to some degree, it is as a friend of mine puts it, the "new normal". Please continue to keep Aron and my family in your prayers.

  2. I will continue to add him to our church prayer list. Please know that the Lord hears & answers prayers. Unfortunately it's in HIS timing and not ours. He has come so far from the beginning and even though the progress has been slow, the Lord is definitely answering so many prayers. I hope this scripture will give you some comfort as you lean on the Lord to help all of you through this.

"Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced." Psalm 105:4-5

  3. Aron and his family are in our prayers every night. We just want the Shubin family to know that not a day goes by that we don't think about him and the weight of his situation for his family. We are praying for continuing progress with Aron, and for strength and peace for his family.

  7. What does someone write at this point?I will never give up my advocacy on Aron's behalf, because I don't believe that any of us hold the answer as to how far he can progress. Will it be back to what we knew? Probably not, but only God knos that . I am not a strong Christian like many who follow this blog, but I pray for Aron everyday. May God hear all of our prayers. May Aron continue to show improvement and be the best that he can be.

  8. You don't know me either, but I have been holding Aron and all his family and close friends up to the Lord in prayer. Thank you for keeping us all posted, and please know that there are many of us around the throne of God praying constantly for you--for grace and peace, wisdom and strength, and healing. He is faithful is all I can tell you.

  10. I can't imagine what life is like for you, Candace or your parents. I know the progress has been slower than what we want or expect, but he IS progressing and that is encouraging. It is also encouraging to see and hear about how many people have been touched by Aron's on-going challenges. My husband and I continue to pray for Aron and your family. We continue to follow updates that are posted. We acknowledge that we don't know the bigger picture and may never know it, but trust that God does things for the good of his people and all things are for His glory. We pray that your faith continues to grow and strengthen when the world would have us think otherwise.

Love and prayers to all of you.

  11. Praying for Aron everyday. It must seem like the recovery process is slower than it should, but it is all part of God's plan, not ours, and He has been in control the entire time.

    Psalm 68:21-23
